A commitment to permanence, carried through objects made for daily use.

About Marden

Founded in 2026 by Rhianne Jacklin, Marden is an English brand deeply rooted in the rolling South Downs landscapes for which her home county of Sussex is known. Nature has long been Rhianne’s greatest source of inspiration.

The business focuses on making beautiful objects designed to last - a direct response to watching with despair as the products of modern life seem to degrade in quality and disintegrate ever more quickly.

Our modest but growing ranges are a protest against the decline in quality of the very things that should enrich our everyday lives - from bags and notebooks to purses and pouches.

Where cost conscious mass producers make their ranges ever thinner, cheaper and more disposable, Marden celebrates the luxuriousness of thick leathers that patina with age and proudly pays top quality producers - from paper mills to tanneries - fair prices for the very finest in raw materials.

Handmade and built to last

Rhianne works from a small atelier in the South Downs, working the finest leather hides with traditional methods. Hand-cutting, edge-finishing and saddle-stitching are traditional techniques so timeworn and trusted they have changed little in centuries.

This is the antithesis of mass production. Nothing is rushed. Nothing leaves the Marden workshop that Rhianne hasn't personally finished and quality controlled with her own hands.

Marden seeks to preserve and evolve the craft of leather working  - carrying forward the knowledge, skills and human values that underpin it. In doing so we hope that both our products, and the storied techniques used to make them, will outlive us.
